Gorgeous little South Sea Island is one of the treasures of the Mamanuca Islands. Crystal clear waters, coral reefs and thousands of tropical fish surround the tiny island. Peppered with palm trees and surrounded by a coral lagoon, uninhabited South Sea Island is truly one of Fiji’s gems.
A day trip to South Sea Island is an easy 30-minute ferry ride from Denarau Marina with South Sea Cruises. The close location to Denarau means that you can make the most of the day lazing on the beach, snorkelling, diving and enjoying the myriad of activities on offer.
The South Sea Full Day Cruise means you’ll get to see and do everything this fantastic little island offers! It’s small in size but you certainly won’t get bored. The hardest part is choosing what to do first! There is a saltwater swimming pool and non-motorised water sports equipment available free of charge, including kayaking and sailing. Hammocks sway peacefully under the cool shade of palm trees and there are plenty of sandy areas to relax under the trees. Catch some rays of sunshine with a cocktail or cool drink beside the pool, or take to the calm, clear waters with your snorkel to explore the magnificent underwater world below.
Discover the underwater world with hours of snorkelling or if you want to stay dry, jump onboard the semi-submersible coral viewer. Make sure you keep an eye out for Nemo! Introductory diving is a particular focus on this island with pretty reef formations and plentiful fish making it a first-time diver’s dream. Start in the pool and then explore the stunning coral gardens and the fish life surrounding the island on a ‘Discover Scuba’ intro dive. There is also plenty to keep certified divers amused, with several beach dives and a purposefully sunk shipwreck. Diving in this area you can encounter drop-offs and wall dives with lots of hard corals, crystal-clear water & large schools of pelagic fish. Although the island is uninhabited, you can still get a taste of Fijian culture with a traditional Meke performance and craft market from Monday to Saturday.
The Half Day Cruise to South Sea Island is perfect for those who don’t have much time to spare, but still want a taste of the “real Fiji”. This fantastic cruise means you will get to explore one of Fiji’s cutest Mamanuca islands and get into “island time”. as the island is only 30 minutes from Denarau, you’ll have time to do many of the activities on the island and meet the friendly Fijians onshore.
Inclusions: Fantastic swimming and snorkelling, even at low tide, saltwater swimming pool, subsea adventure in the semi-submersible coral viewer, free use of non-motorised water sports equipment including kayaking and sailing, Fijian “Meke” performance at lunchtime (except Sundays), massage available (additional cost) and complimentary kids club. Lunchtime is a highlight on the island. Everyone gathers around rustic tables at the open-air restaurant to watch Fijian performances and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with salads, beer, wine and soft drinks.
